What is Worsley Five Element Acupuncture?
Worsley Five Element Acupuncture is a unique style of acupuncture. It does more than treat the symptoms or illnesses that a person has. It diagnoses and treats the cause of the disease. The foundation of Worsley Five Element Acupuncture is Five Element acupuncture theory. Five Element theory describes our natural world as comprised of five basic elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Energetically, these elements are all connected in a cycle of creative energy, transforming from one element to the next, much like the change from one season of the year to the next.
Dating back thousands of years, Five Element acupuncture is the most ancient of the traditional acupuncture styles. Worsley Five Element Acupuncture promotes an overall improved balance of health and quality of life by treating the root cause of each person’s health concerns. This holistic approach results in longer lasting overall health benefits.
How Acupuncture Works
In Chinese medical diagnosis, any illness or symptom, whether physical or mental, is associated with an imbalance in a person’s vital energy. This vital energy is known as Qi (pronounced “chee”). Qi travels within the body through pathways called meridians. Each meridian is linked with a vital organ such as the heart, spleen, lungs, kidneys and liver. On each of these meridians there are precise locations where an imbalance in the Qi can be corrected, known as acupuncture points. Very fine acupuncture needles can be inserted into these acupuncture points to restore the person’s Qi to balance and harmony, healing their illness.
Professor Worsley’s Contribution
The ancient Chinese observed the elements in nature and the natural laws. They understood how nature’s five elements work in people. Worsley Five Element Acupuncture is based on the ancient traditions of Chinese Five Element acupuncture. It was adapted for the modern Western world by the renowned British Professor J.R. Worsley. Professor Worsley realized that every person has one original cause of disease, which he called the Causative Factor (CF). He is credited with applying CF diagnosis and treatment to traditional Five Element acupuncture theory. Treating a person’s CF with Worsley Five Element Acupuncture resolves the root cause of their disease, which causes the symptoms of their disease to disappear.
Balancing the Whole Person
Worsley Five Element Acupuncture treatment restores balance and wellness in body, mind and spirit. What separates Worsley Five Element Acupuncture from other styles of acupuncture is how it precisely diagnoses and treats the depth of a person’s root energy imbalance. A Worsley Five Element Acupuncture physician is trained to recognize each person’s unique needs and help them realize their full potential with individualized treatment plans.
A course of Worsley Five Element Acupuncture treatments provides relief of the physical symptoms of disease. It also gives palpable improvement to a person’s sense of wellbeing, clarity of mind and openness of heart.
An Ounce of Prevention
Worsley Five Element Acupuncture is an excellent form of preventive health care. It is also valuable in dealing with the everyday stresses of our modern lifestyle. Even though they have no specific health problems, many people have Worsley Five Element Acupuncture to maintain and enhance their vitality. In ancient China, everyone over the age of seven received five “seasonal” acupuncture treatments per year, (one season associated with each of the Five Elements), to balance their energy and prevent disease. Fine tuning our vital Qi energy in balance with the natural seasonal changes can prevent illness and keep our spirits uplifted!
