What Does Citicoline (CDP Choline) Do?
CDP Choline (also known as cytidine 5’- diphosphocholine), a natural precursor in the formation of phospholipids, is a potent inhibitor of Phospholipase A2 (PLA2). CDP Choline has been used as a nutritional supplement in the treatment of patients with a variety of disorders including memory disorders, vascular cognitive impairment, vascular dementia, senile dementia, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, head trauma, and ischemic stroke.
CDP Choline is a natural compound involved in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, a major constituent (30%) of the grey matter of brain tissue.
