How To Check Your Energy Levels During Acupuncture

One of the most common things patients tell us when they walk into our clinic is, “I’m exhausted.” Low energy can show up in many ways—brain fog, poor sleep, stress, pain, or simply feeling run down. In acupuncture, we look closely at your energy levels to understand why your body feels the way it does.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this energy is called Qi (pronounced chee). Qi is what helps your body function, heal, and stay balanced. When it’s flowing well, you feel strong and clear. When it’s depleted or stuck, symptoms tend to appear.
So how do we assess your energy?
During your visit, we check your energy in several gentle, non-invasive ways. One of the main tools we use is pulse diagnosis. By feeling the pulse on your wrists at different positions and depths, we can gather information about how your energy is moving, how well you’re recovering, and where support is needed.
Your experience matters just as much as what we observe. We’ll ask about how your energy feels throughout the day—whether you crash in the afternoon, wake up tired, or feel wired but exhausted. Sleep quality, digestion, stress levels, and even emotional load all give us important clues about how your energy is being used or depleted.
Energy imbalances don’t always mean feeling tired. They can also show up as tension, pain, anxiety, digestive discomfort, or difficulty focusing. By identifying these patterns, we’re able to treat the root cause rather than chasing symptoms.
Acupuncture works by supporting the smooth flow of energy throughout the body. Treatments are designed to nourish depleted energy, move stagnation, and help your system reset. Many patients notice they don’t just have more energy—they feel calmer, clearer, and more resilient.
Our goal is always to help your body work more efficiently, so you’re not running on empty. If you’ve been feeling off, tired, or not quite yourself, acupuncture may help you reconnect with your natural energy and feel like you again.
