Healthy Habits
Dr. Michael here!
Leading a healthy lifestyle can positively impact your health, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. Let’s look at the most powerful tools you have to help yourself become healthier.
Acupuncture
First, acupuncture is a great way to support your healthy lifestyle. Acupuncture treatment balances your body, and at the same time it balances your emotions. You are able to deal with stress and your body receives optimal energy when you balance your vital energy (called “Qi”) with acupuncture.
Positive Thinking
The awesome power of your mind to influence your body has been well researched and documented. By focusing your thoughts in a positive direction, you can feel happier, less stressed, and heal your body.
Directing your mind more positively can be a challenge at times. It takes awareness and patience. It seems that negative thinking is part of human nature. So rather than judge yourself for having a negative thought, accept your “humanness” and redirect your thoughts more positively. For example, if something happens that you consider to be bad, look for what you can learn from the situation, or how you can turn it into something better.
Diet
You truly “are what you eat”. If you feed your body junk food, your body will eventually become overloaded with toxins. Conversely, eating a “clean” diet free of toxic chemicals will nourish your body and mind to better health.
Exercise
Another equally important factor in your health is to get regular cardiovascular exercise. Did you know that regular “cardio” exercise not only improves heart function, but also helps prevent diabetes?
Another gentle but effective way to exercise is to practice yoga or Tai Chi. These exercises are relaxing for our body and mind, and safe at any age. The bottom line is to find what forms of exercise work for you, and to do it often.
The Ancient Chinese understood centuries ago that you acquire Qi energy from two sources: from your food and from your respiration and exercise. From your food you derive “Nutritive Qi”, and from aerobic exercise combined with Nutritive Qi you make “Gathering Qi”. Combining healthy diet and exercise habits with acupuncture treatment can replenish the energy you expend and build up your energy reserves.
