Swing Into Healing: Golfer’s Elbow and Acupuncture

Please share

Golfer’s elbow is an injury typically associated with the sport golf, hence the name, but is characterized by pain in the inner elbow, which may travel down your forearm and into your wrist. Golfer’s elbow can be caused by a variety of things, including excess physical strain or repetitive wrist, forearm or elbow motion. This pain can, over time, evolve into weakness, such as difficulty gripping things or lifting objects.

Typical treatments for golfer’s elbow, much like tennis elbow, ranges from over-the-counter medication to surgeries, depending on the severity of the issue. However, adding acupuncture to your treatment plan can be beneficial in many ways. Let us show you how!

Sports acupuncture can help patients see relief in as little as 3 to 6 acupuncture sessions by working on reducing inflammation and improving circulation around the elbow. This natural reduction of inflammation allows for pain relief around the affected area, as well as allowing for the release of oxytocin and dopamine which are our natural pain relievers. Mobility becomes easier with this pain and inflammation reduction, allowing you to continue your hobbies and sports as per usual. With time, this treatment can be used preventatively as your healing furthers in its progression.

Alongside recommended exercise habits, stretching techniques, natural topical supplements, and possible dietary changes, our expert team of acupuncture physicians will be able to help guide you through your healing so that you can continue doing what you love doing with no fear of pain or discomfort impeding you!
