Summer and the Fire Element

Please share

Hi Dr. Michael here!

What do you think of when you think of summer? Do you think of vacations? The beach? The heat? When I think of summer I think of the Fire Element and what it does in acupuncture.

What is the Fire Element and how does it pertain to your body? Each part of your body is represented by an element and season. That is why Summer being the warmest part of the year is fire. The organs and parts of the body associated with fire are the heart, small intestines, blood circulation and sexual organs, and the three heater. The three heater really isn’t an organ but it controls the temperature and energy flow in three sections of the body- upper (heart, pericardium and lungs), middle (stomach, spleen, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder) and lower (small and large intestines, kidneys, and bladder).

The Fire Element affects not only your body, but also your mind, emotions, and spirit. When one or more of the meridians of your vital energy (qi) in the Fire Element are stimulated through acupuncture it can actually create joy and fuel passion. It can warm you up, give you more energy and potentially transform how you feel after even just one acupuncture treatment.

When you are feeling anxiety, agitation and trouble sleeping your Fire Element may be out of balance and may be time to tune it. Call us at the Acupuncture & Holistic Health Center at (904) 296-9545 to schedule your acupuncture treatment to help get you back into alignment!
