Parkinson’s disease is a debilitating progressive disease that can start small and subtle but will grow to affect the nerves so that maintaining motor control function and/or movement becomes stiff, difficult, and eventually, painful. Parkinson’s Disease also affects other parts of the body, such as balance and muscle/joint control, gastrointestinal issues and loss of senses like taste or smell. Contrary to popular opinion, Parkinson’s affects people of all ages, although it is most common among the older population. Acupuncture can help mitigate some of these issues and some of the more common Parkinson’s symptoms.
Symptoms associated with Parkinson’s such as pain, mental stress and illness, and poor sleep have been able to be lessened by acupuncture, and studies have shown a decrease in medication dosage over time with acupuncture. At the Acupuncture and Holistic Health Center, we work with the utmost sympathy with you to figure out the root of the problem and formulate a health plan that works with your individual Parkinson’s symptoms to lessen not just the symptoms, but target the cause of the disease!
Life with Parkinson’s can be stressful and painful, but it does not have to be. Consider adding acupuncture as a discipline in your health journey moving forward! Give us a call today at (904) 296-9545 and schedule an appointment!
