Find Calm in the Chaos

Please share

We get it. You can’t always control your body’s reactions to stress. “Fight, flight, and freeze” has become so popular as a quip to use when your body is being flooded with stress hormones, sometimes we can’t even tell our bodies are actively undergoing those responses at that moment. They are also typically the body’s response to an overwhelmed state.

Acupuncture can help bring back the calm in that chaos in a number of ways. There are a multitude of benefits for utilizing acupuncture to relieve anxiety and stress, and it works at a neurological level. As a modality, it can bring down stress hormone levels such as cortisol and adrenaline, which are responsible for the body’s responses to situations wherein it feels in danger or critically overwhelmed. While reducing those, it can also boost endorphins that act as pain relief and positive neurotransmitters.

Acupuncture has also historically been used as a sleep aid to promote true, restful sleep. When the body and brain are well rested, the responses your body has to stress are much more balanced. Good sleep also promotes relaxation and calm, which are important regulatory must-haves in order to tackle the heavy loads throughout your day without experiencing burnout or frustration.

This promotion of rest, relaxation, and feel-good endorphins has a long lasting effect as well. It carries through even beyond our treatment hour. Patients can start to experience happy endorphins during treatment, and this can carry over for 24 to 48 hours into your week. It also compounds, with more treatment leading to longer periods of rest and relaxation.

Your stressors in your day to day life are unique to you, and we understand the value of sitting down to discuss those. We take a holistic approach and look at the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual burdens that people carry because sometimes one can influence the other. We sit and work through a health plan that will take into account this history and create goals that will serve you even beyond the treatment table. Our licensed acupuncturists may recommend adding massage to maximize treatment from our talented massage therapists, mindfulness techniques to practice at home, and changes to your dietary and supplement plan to help support your goals nutritionally.
